# Comments

> Monitor, reply, and moderate comments on your Facebook and Instagram posts from one inbox, with filters, sentiment cues, and quick AI-assisted responses.

The comments page lets you manage comments across your Facebook and Instagram accounts from one place. You can view comment threads, reply to followers, moderate conversations, and use AI-assisted replies without switching between apps.

## Supported platforms

| Platform  | Capabilities                       |
| --------- | ---------------------------------- |
| Facebook | View comments, reply, hide, delete |
| Instagram | View comments, reply, hide, delete |

<Note>Other platforms do not support comment management at this time.</Note>

## Viewing comments

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open comments">
    Navigate to the **Comments** page from the workspace sidebar or the More menu on mobile.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select an account">
    Choose a connected Facebook or Instagram account. If you only have one account, it is selected automatically. Only accounts on these two platforms appear in the list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Browse posts">
    A list of your recent posts loads on the left. Select a post to see its comment thread. The first post with comments is selected by default.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the thread">
    The comment thread shows all top-level comments and their replies. Each comment displays the author, timestamp, message text, and like count.
  </Step>
</Steps>

On desktop, the comments page uses a three-panel layout: post list on the left, post media viewer in the center, and comment thread on the right. On mobile, you switch between a posts view and a thread view.

## Replying to comments

Select a comment and type your reply in the input field. Press **Cmd/Ctrl + Enter** to send. Your reply is sent to the platform immediately and appears in the thread. Replies are sent as your connected page or business account, not your personal profile.

### Threaded replies

Threads with 3 or fewer replies expand automatically. Threads with more replies are collapsed behind a **View replies** toggle. Click it to expand the full thread, or click **Hide replies** to collapse it again.

When you reply, a "Replying to @Author" indicator appears above the input field so you can see who you are responding to.

### Reply status

After sending, the reply shows one of these states:

* **Sending** -- a spinner appears while the reply is being delivered
* **Sent** -- a green checkmark with "Reply sent" appears for a few seconds
* **Failed** -- a red error message with a **Retry** button appears inline

## AI reply assist

The comment thread includes an AI assist button next to the send button. It provides contextual suggestions based on the comment, post caption, platform, and your brand profile.

### Available modes

| Mode | When it appears | What it does |
| -------------- | --------------- | -------------------------------- |
| Generate reply | Draft is empty | Creates a new reply from scratch |
| Enhance | Draft exists | Improves your existing draft |
| Shorter | Draft exists | Makes your draft more concise |
| More friendly | Draft exists | Adjusts tone to be warmer |
| Professional | Draft exists | Adjusts tone to be more formal |

When your draft is empty, you see a single **Generate reply** button. Once you have text in the reply field, the button changes to an **AI Assist** dropdown with the enhancement options.

The AI uses your [brand profile](/features/brand-profiles) to match your brand's voice and tone when generating replies. If you have configured a brand profile, the generated replies reflect your brand personality.

### How AI reply assist works in practice

The AI considers four pieces of context when generating or enhancing a reply: the comment text, your post caption, the platform (Facebook or Instagram), and your [brand profile](/features/brand-profiles) settings. This means the same comment receives a different reply depending on whether your brand voice is set to Professional or Friendly.

**Example scenarios:**

| Comment                                                       | Mode           | Result                                                                                        |
| ------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| "How much does this cost?" | Generate reply | A direct answer referencing your post content, with a call-to-action matching your brand tone |
| "Love this! 🔥" | Generate reply | A short thank-you that matches your emoji usage setting (None, Minimal, Moderate, or Heavy) |
| "Thanks for your interest, pricing starts at..." (your draft) | Shorter | Condenses the draft while keeping the key information |
| "Thanks for your interest, pricing starts at..." (your draft) | More friendly | Adds warmth and a conversational tone to the same information |
| "Thanks for your interest, pricing starts at..." (your draft) | Professional | Removes casual language and adds a formal closing |

<Tip>Use **Generate reply** to draft a response quickly, then refine it with **Shorter**, **More friendly**, or **Professional** until the tone feels right. You can apply multiple enhancement modes in sequence before sending.</Tip>

## Daily engagement workflow

Use this routine to stay on top of comments without spending all day in the app.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check for new comments">
    Open the comments page and note the **Last synced** time. Pull to refresh on mobile or click the refresh button to get the latest data.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Prioritize unanswered questions">
    Scan each post's thread for comments that ask questions or report issues. These need a reply first — unanswered questions can hurt engagement and trust.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reply with AI assist">
    For straightforward comments, use **Generate reply** to draft a response, review it, and send with **Cmd/Ctrl + Enter**. For sensitive topics, write your own reply and use **Professional** or **More friendly** to polish the tone.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Moderate if needed">
    Hide spam or inappropriate comments. Delete only when necessary — hidden comments can be restored, but deleted comments cannot.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review comment trends">
    Check the [analytics dashboard](/features/analytics) to see whether your comment count is trending up or down. A drop may indicate lower engagement or that you are posting at suboptimal times.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Moderating comments

You can take the following actions on individual comments:

| Action     | What it does                                                                                                            | Reversible?                                                          |
| ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Hide** | Hides the comment from public view on the platform. The comment still appears in your thread with a "hidden" indicator. | Yes -- click **Unhide** on the comment to restore it to public view. |
| **Unhide** | Restores a previously hidden comment to public view. | Yes -- you can hide it again. |
| **Delete** | Permanently removes the comment from the platform. A confirmation dialog appears before deletion. | No -- deletion is permanent. |

All moderation actions use optimistic updates, meaning the change appears in your interface immediately while the request is sent to the platform in the background. If the platform request fails, the change is rolled back automatically.

<Warning>Deleting a comment is permanent and cannot be undone.</Warning>

<Note>Available moderation actions depend on the platform and your account permissions. You need page admin permissions to hide or delete comments.</Note>

### Bulk moderation

Bulk moderation (hiding or deleting multiple comments at once) is not available. Each comment must be moderated individually. If you are dealing with a spam wave, consider temporarily hiding comments on the platform directly, then reviewing and restoring legitimate comments from Socializioz.

### Comment sorting and filtering

Comments within a thread are displayed in chronological order (oldest first). You cannot sort comments by newest, most liked, or filter by keyword within a thread. To find comments on a specific post, use the [post search](#searching-posts) bar.

## Searching posts

Use the search bar at the top of the post list to filter posts by caption text. This helps you find comments on a specific piece of content quickly.

## Deep linking

You can link directly to a specific comment using URL query parameters:

```
/comments?account=ACCOUNT_ID&post=POST_ID&comment=COMMENT_ID
```

When you open a deep link, the page automatically selects the account, opens the post, and scrolls to the specified comment with a brief highlight animation. This is useful for sharing links to specific comments with team members or from notification emails.

Each comment also includes a link icon that opens the original post or comment directly on the platform.

## Last synced time

The toolbar displays when comments were last synced. You can pull down to refresh on mobile or use the refresh button to fetch the latest comments.

## Monitoring for new comments

Socializioz does not currently send push or in-app notifications when new comments arrive on your posts. To stay on top of engagement, check the comments page regularly or use the **Last synced** timestamp to see when data was last refreshed.

You can also monitor comment activity through:

* **Published posts** -- each post card shows a comment count, so a rising number indicates new engagement
* **Analytics** -- track overall comment trends in the [analytics dashboard](/features/analytics)
* **Platform notifications** -- enable notifications directly in each platform's app (Instagram, Facebook) for real-time alerts about new comments

<Tip>Bookmark the comments page or add it to your daily workflow to catch new engagement before it goes stale.</Tip>

| -------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No accounts appear | Connect a Facebook or Instagram account from the [connections](/features/connections) page. Only Facebook and Instagram accounts show in the comments view. |
| Comments not loading | Check that your account token is still valid. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the account from the [connections](/features/connections) page. |
| Reply failed | Check your network connection and try again using the inline **Retry** button. If the error persists, verify your account permissions. |
| Cannot hide or delete | Verify that your account has page admin permissions on the platform. |
| Hide/unhide action reverted | The platform rejected the request. This can happen if your permissions have changed. Reconnect the account and try again. |
| AI reply assist not generating | Make sure you have at least one comment selected. The AI needs the comment context to generate a reply. If the service is unavailable, try again in a few moments. |
| Deep link not working | Verify that the account, post, and comment IDs in the URL are correct and belong to your workspace. The comment may have been deleted on the platform. |
| AI replies do not match my brand voice | Check your [brand profile](/features/brand-profiles) settings. The AI uses your configured tone, emoji usage, and response length preferences. Update these settings and try generating again. |
